About SHU Dormitory Guide

Dormitory Information

Sahmyook Health University operates a dormitory to help international students adapt to their academic and daily life in Korea. The dormitory aims to provide an optimal environment where students can interact with one another, understand Korean culture as well as other cutures, and focus on their studies, going beyond the role of a mere living space. Below are the main guidelines related to the dormitory.
Dormitory Overview and Assignment Criteria

Purpose : The dormitory supports international students in pursuing their studies in a safe and convenient living environment, while providing opportunities for students of diverse nationalities to live together and build global networks.

Assignment Priority : Priority is given to new international students, government-sponsored scholarship students (GKS), and scholarship students from partner institutions. For current students, assignments are made based on the previous semester's academic performance, thereby motivating academic achievement and ensuring fair opportunities. If the number of applicants exceeds the available spots, applicants will be placed on a waiting list, and admission opportunities will be offered in order of the waiting list as vacancies arise.
Eligibility: International students currently enrolled at the university (degree programs, language programs) who meet basic requirements, including submission of a health examination result prior to admission.

Dormitory Facilities and Amenities

Room Configuration : The dormitory is operated on a two-person per room basis(for larger rooms two bunkbeds), and each room is equipped with basic amenities such as a bed, a drawer, air conditioner, and communal internet connection and hanger per suite. The dormitory ensures a comfortable living environment by balancing personal space and common areas.

Common Facilities :The dormitory is equipped with restrooms, a common kitchen, and a lounge, providing an environment necessary for daily life and academic activities. In particular, the shared kitchen allows international students to cook their own meals and share the flavors of their home countries.

Cultural exchange programs :The dormitory regularly hosts Korean conversation meetings, traditional Korean cultural experiences (such as wearing Hanbok and making kimchi), and social events for international students to help them adapt to Korean culture and interact with friends from other countries.

Dormitory fees and admission period

Dormitory Fees : Approximately KRW 1,200,000 per semester (3 months), which includes facility management fees and basic utilities (electricity, water, etc.).
Additional costs (such as excess electricity usage) may be billed separately.
