Subject: Warning Regarding Illegal Part-time Work (Arbeit) and Employment for International Students

Notice for International Students of Sahmyook Health University Subject: Warning Regarding Illegal Part-time Work (Arbeit) and Employment for International Students This is an important announcement for all international students of Sahmyook Health University. Recently, some of our current students were caught working undeclared part-time jobs (Arbeit) during an inspection by the Ministry of Justice's Immigration Service (or local Immigration Office). As a result, they were fined and received a warning. Please be aware that this can cause serious problems for your academic progress and residency status. • Key Points to Note: The Dangers of Undeclared Part-time Work: Undeclared part-time work is illegal and will result in legal penalties, such as fines, upon discovery. This can negatively affect future visa extension and change applications with the Ministry of Justice, and in severe cases, may lead to visa cancellation and forced deportation. According to our university's regulations, if undeclared part-time work is confirmed, strong disciplinary measures, including expulsion, may be taken. • Intensive Crackdowns During Vacation and Part-time Work Standards: During the vacation period, the Ministry of Justice's Immigration Service (or local Immigration Office) conducts intensive, unannounced inspections and crackdowns. Students who wish to work part-time must obtain prior approval from the Ministry of Justice through the university. Working hours during the vacation are limited based on Korean language proficiency as follows: TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) Level 3 or higher: No limit on working hours (unlimited) TOPIK Level 2 or lower: Within 10 hours per week • Part-time Work Standards During the Semester (for reference): TOPIK Level 3 or higher: Within 25 hours on weekdays TOPIK Level 2 or lower: Within 10 hours per week If any student is currently engaged in undeclared part-time work, please visit the International Student Affairs office immediately to complete the proper legal procedures to avoid any disadvantages. We urge all students to strictly comply with the law for a safe and successful life as a student abroad. • Inquiries: Sahmyook Health University, Office of International Affairs (Global Convergence Department / Korean Language Education Center): 02-3407-8509, 8527 Dean of International Affairs, Sahmyook Health University 2025.08.07
